CHAPTER FIVE
Days later, 2000 friends and family would say goodbye to Pootie.
The funeral was beautiful. Flowers were everywhere in the church even though Deuce, Gino, and Onix were in Atlanta, they had flowers sent to the funeral.
Pootie was in a bronze casket that had been picked by his mother, Frankie Miller, an short haired overweight woman in a long black dress that worked with her copper tone and hazel eyes.
The church choir sang Mahaila Jackson's “I'm Goin’ Home,” and Kayla, De'ja, Spicy, and Mary did their version of Brandy, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, and Tamia's song, “'Missing You”, which really had everyone in tears.
Nothing, though, could beat Reverend Hunt when he gave his lovely eulogy over Pootie. Instead of calling him by his street name, though, he called him by his Christian name because Pootie had been going to that church ever since he was a little boy.
Reverend Hunt told the church stories of Pootie when he was a child, activities he did with the church, and so on. When the eulogy was over, everyone looked down at Pootie. When Diedre and Frankie broke down crying, Spicy, Kayla, and De'ja escorted them out.
When they got to the cemetery, Romeo, Jerrod, Flipper, Samar, Jerrod's little brother Jordan, and Pootie's eldest brother Drew were all pallbearers. Frankie just cried and cried when she saw her son going into the ground. She had five sons, and she’d already lost three of them including Pootie to the streets. She just couldn't believe she lost a third child. She’d also lost her husband to alcoholism.

At Frankie's one story home in University City she had a little reception for Pootie's friends. They had a kitchen full of food, including Popeye's chicken with biscuits, mac & cheese, stuffing, two hams, wild rice, shrimp, chocolate cake, caramel cake, and vanilla ice cream. Everyone mostly socialized. Diedre even told Frankie that she was five months pregnant with Pootie's baby and that it was going to be a little boy. Frankie was amazed and thrilled that she was going to have a piece of her son more importantly it would be her first grandchild. The two women began to get to know each other a little better.
A knock come at the door.
“I’ll get it, Aunt Frankie!” shouted Jerrod, getting the door.
Standing there was a middle aged white man with gray hair wearing a dark blue suit and holding a black briefcase.
“Can I help you?” said Jerrod.
“Hi, young man and yes. Is Mrs. Miller home? I'm Edmund Wild, attorney at law,” said the white man in a dry voice.
“Cool. Come in,” said Jerrod, stepping aside as Edmund walked in. Everyone looked at him like 'Oh, Lord - what we do?'
Frankie came out of the kitchen with Diedre.
“Hi!” said Frankie.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Miller. I'm Edmund Wild, attorney at law. I was Pootie's attorney and good friend. May I say that I'm very sorry for your loss,” Edmund said, extending his hand out.

They shook hands, then Frankie smiled and said, “Thank you, sir.
